Monday, March 7

Happy Monday! I hope that everyone enjoyed their weekends. Check out the Flickr photostream to see photos from the bridge building competition, Jonathan's graduation, and ice skating - I finally uploaded all of them!

A few important notes:
  • We are now in WEEK 8 of the quarter. There are only 10 weeks in the quarter. If you are not pleased with your grades at this time (and most of you should probably take a peek - all your grades on Edmodo), it is time to start thinking about REDO/MAKE-UP WORK. I only accept late work until the end of week 9.
  • RUNNING CLUB starts on Friday. Remind Ms. S to pass out permission slips because they need to be signed before you can start.

As you come in, here are your assignments:

1) Vocabulary
Your vocabulary words for week 8 are:
  • Administer (verb)
  • Conduct (noun, verb)
  • Element (noun)
In your blogs, complete the following assignment -
Blog Title - Week 8 Vocabulary Definitions & Examples
Assignment -
  • Find the definition for each word. For conduct, you need to find the definition as BOTH as noun and verb
  • Copy the following example sentences:
  1. Administer (verb) - Ricardo, in the National City office, will administer the CAHSEE test.
  2. Conduct (noun) - He carried himself with professional conduct.
  3. Conduct (verb) - I expect students to conduct themselves well with substitute teachers.
  4. Element (noun) - The elements of success are determination and hard work.

Civil Rights Movement – Timeline

In Microsoft Word, create a timeline of the following events. You will be adding more events as we continue to watch the PBS series, Eyes on the Prize.

For today, the events you need to include are (Episode 1)

  • Emmet Till is murdered
  • Rosa Park refuses to give up her seat on the bus
  • Montgomery bus boycott begins
  • Montgomery bus boycott ends


For each event, you need to include the following information:
  • Date of event
  • Two sentence description of event
  • Image
