Happy Monday!! I hope that everyone had a good weekend and are ready for the zoo tomorrow!

Important Notes -
  • The last day to turn in any late/missing work is TOMORROW. After tomorrow, I will not accept any more redo/late work for this quarter. Report cards will be done next Friday (March 25).
  • Field trip to the zoo tomorrow! Lunches will be provided, so you only need money if you plan to buy something. We'll talk details before you go home today. However, if you plan on not attending - you definitely need to stay and talk to me! We will be completing a project that you will need to check in with me about.
As you come in, here are your assignments. All assignments will be due at 9:30 for break!

1) Vocabulary -

Welcome to week 9! Your vocabulary words for the week are:
  • Resource (noun)
  • Seek (verb)
  • Transfer (noun, verb)
In your blogs, complete the following post -
Blog Title - Week 9 Vocabulary Definitions & Example Sentences
Assignment -
  • Find the definition for each of your vocabulary words. Make sure that you are finding the definitions for transfer as a noun AND as a verb.
  • Copy the following sample sentences for each word:
  • Resource (noun) - An important natural resource in the United States is trees.
  • Seek (verb) - After high school, I will seek a career in criminal justice.
  • Transfer (noun) - The student forgot to ask the counselor for a transfer back to the district.
  • Transfer (verb) - Some issues that arise when a student transfers to a new school is that they have to make new friends.

3) Social Studies - Eyes on the Prize - Episode 3 Timeline

In Microsoft Word, create a timeline of the following events. You will be adding more events as we continue to watch the PBS series, Eyes on the Prize.

For today, the events you need to include are (Episode 3):

1. Student sit-ins in Nashville

  • When?
  • Where?
  • Why?
  • Goal?

2. For the first time, African Americans are served at the lunch counter in Nashville

  • How?
  • Why is this a big deal?
  • What efforts were put in to finally make this happen?

3. Boycott of chain stores that segregate in the South

  • Example of chain store?
  • Effect on stores?

4. Freedom Rides

  • What are they?
  • Goal?
  • Effect?

For each event, you need to include the following information:

  • Date of event
  • Two sentence description of event
  • Image

4) Redo/Make-up Work
