Happy Monday! I hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend and their time with Ms. Sanchez!
Remember that this is the last week of the quarter! So a few important notes -
  • The last day of third quarter is THIS FRIDAY, March 25.
  • The only missing assignments that you are allowed to make-up are ELA/Math PLATO's - you must print & turn in to Ms. S (with a signature!)
  • Field trip to SeaWorld is next Thurday, March 31. The cost is $6.
  • Open House is Friday, April 1.
  • IF I DO NOT HAVE YOUR BLOG URL, I NEED IT. I WILL BE GRADING YOUR ENTIRE QUARTER WORTH OF BLOG POSTS (INCLUDING VOCABULARY FOR ALL 10 WEEKS AND OTHER POSTS) THIS WEEK.
  • Yadira, I have not yet graded the essays. You can hate me if you want. It will be done by Friday, mainly because it has to be.

1) Vocabulary - Week 10

The week 10 vocabulary words are: Compensate (verb), inital (adjective), and interact (verb).

For this assignment, you need to do the following:

Blog Title - Week 10 Vocabulary Definitions & Examples

Assignment -

* Find the definition for each word.

* Copy the following example sentences for each word.

Compensate (verb) - You will be compensated depending on the quality of your work.

Initial (adj) - The inital step in returning to a comprehensive school is scheduling a meeting with the district.

Interact (verb) - At Umoja Community School, it is important for the two classes to interact in order to promote unity!

2) PLATO - English/Language Arts

Go to - Written & Oral Conventions

Assignment - Using Commas With "Or," "And," or "But"

3) Mini-Biography - Martin Luther King, Jr.

In your blogs, complete the following assignment:

Blog Title - Mini Biography: Martin Luther King, Jr.

Assignment - Reserach and answer the following questions:

1. When was he born? Where?

2. Where did he receive his high school diploma? Bachelor's degree? Were the schools he attended segregrated?

3. When did he get married? To who? Does he have kids?

4. Where did he first became a pastor? At what church?

5. What was the Southern Christian Leadership Conference?

6. What rule did MLK teach for protests during the Civil Rights Movement?

7. What was his role in the Civil Rights Movement?

8. Why was he arrested? How was he released?

9. When did he win the Nobel Peace Prize? For what?

10. How did MLK die? When?
