3) Social Studies
If you work on WORLD HISTORY:
Read Chapter 16, Section 2. Answer the section assessment questions #1-5, skip #3.

Your week 4 vocabulary words are: Area, Clarify, and Differentiate
In your blogs, you need to complete the following assignment.
Blog Title: Week 4 Synonyms, Images, and Sentences
Assignment:
*** You need to copy the following synonyms for each of your vocabulary words in your blog.
Area - Region, district, locale, vicinity, part, subject, topic, section, zone
Clarify - Make clear, explain, simplify, refine, cleanse, treat
Differentiate - Distinguish, discriminate, tell apart, tell between, set apart, single out
*** You also need to find an IMAGE that represents each of your vocabulary words.
*** For each IMAGE, you need to WRITE A SENTENCE that describes how your image matches the definition of your vocabulary word.

2) PLATO - English/Language Arts
Go to: Literary Response and Analysis
Assignment: Visualizing when you read literature

3) SOCIAL STUDIES
If you work on WORLD HISTORY:
Read Chapter 16, Section 1. Answer the section assessment questions #1-5, skip #3.

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a safe weekend and enjoyed watching the Steelers LOSE for SUPERBOWL!!!!

Clarify (verb) - Illustrations are provided to help clarify written instructions.
Differentiate (verb) - Most people can't differentiate between the tastes of Coke and Pepsi.

3) Social Studies

4) Redo Work

4) How's your genetics project coming along? Remember, they are due next week and many of you have not yet submitted your answers for the questions and your ethical dilemma summary!

Happy Thursday! As you come in, review the important notes and complete the following assignments:

- The new school name is Main Street Umoja Community School. Umoja means 'unity' in Swahili. The short name for the school will just be Umoja Community School.
- In order to start preparing everyone for waking up early and making it school on time, there will be a 15 minute detention for everyone who arrives after 1:00PM. This will get stricter once we change sites & times. If you're more than 15 minutes late each day, you're missing too much work. Please don't make me hang out with you after school everyday. It's not fun for me and it's cleaning chores for you. Detention = cleaning! You can thank my military father for that.

Assignments -

1) Edmodo Poll - So far, the results show that 8 want a Valentine's Day party and 5 do not. If you have an opinion about which way this goes, answer the poll question!

2) Vocabulary -
In your blogs, complete the following assignment:
Blog Title - Week 3 Vocabulary Paragraph
Your vocabulary words for the week are: Distinct, Potential, and Formula.
Using all three of your vocabulary words, write a COHESIVE (that means it makes sense and all three sentences go together!) PARAGRAPH that responds to the following quote from Frankenstein:
"I will revenge my injures: if I cannot inspire love, I will cause fear; and chiefly towards you my archenemy, because my create, do I swear inextinguishable hatred" (p. 133).
In your response, consider: What does the monster mean? Why would he say this? What do you make of his claim?

3) PLATO - English/Language Arts

4) Frankenstein - Reading
The entire class will need to begin silent, independent reading at approximately 1:40PM. At that point, you will read Chapter 15 independently and answer the assigned reading questions. We will then read Chapter 16 as a whole class.

4) Frankenstein - Reading Questions
At 1:40, we will begin SILENT and INDEPENDENT reading. You will be reading Chapter 13 and answering the reading questions that go with it.
